In this time of unknowns know that I care for you Though the earth shakes and moans know I’ll be there for you When the lightning breaks over your head know there’s a hiding place and I’ll meet you there Where you heart has no rest I’ll be your slumber When your mind has no peace I’ll be your comfort When the nightmares chase you out of your sleep I’ll put my arms around you pull you close to me I wait My love never fades When the fever won’t break I’ll be beside you When the lights go out my hand will guide you So don’t be afraid of things that you see I am always with you and you with me I wait My love never fades

Love Is 03:07
Love is a call when you least expect it Soaking it up till we’re disconnected Love is the plant that you watered while I was away Love is a song that reminds me of you only Love is the sun (that) cradles you when you’re lonely For me—when I can’t be with you So far away And now that I’ve found you You’re the dream I keep every day Even when I’m away I’ve found you Love is a promise I keep with you daily No I’m not perfect but I’m yours to the grave Love is the family that you and I have made Love is the calm when I turn on our street and love is the sigh of you falling asleep on/next to me While I’m telling you I missed you So far away And now that I’ve found you You’re the dream I keep every day Even when I’m away I’ve found you In eucalyptus light You know I’m caught in waking dreaming with you What you and I go through In and out of years An awe still waits

Signs are down they’re down across the city Fallen in some storm swept through in the night Well the weathermen didn’t see it coming What all the women said they felt in their bones And sirens went off around midnight But I couldn’t hear a thing through my headphones Ladadadada America The names are torn off of your streets With what we’ve left Can we still make some kind of peace Well all the newscasters didn’t see it coming What all the women said they felt in the bones And the sirens woke the world up at midnight But we couldn’t see a thing through our cell phones Ladadadada
5.
It’s so scary To keep all your secrets To never tell anyone What you hold inside And it can feel daunting To look out your windows And think that anyone to pass by Might hurt you You can run—you can hide But you’re better with someone to love In this life Your secrets divide you A crack down the middle You think if you told them They’d spit in your face And maybe they would dear They may never understand you But you have to drawn close dear For the spit or the grace

about

Other Side (A) is the first side of a new album.

We were all there. 2020... With everything upended I turned to writing, and these songs are what came of it. Never have I sought consolation as much as through this season of writing. I hope this body of work helps you find those deep places...

I kept asking this group of songs if it wanted anything more, but they just kept saying no. They seemed to say that less was enough... I was drawn more towards impressionistic sounds and moods—perhaps because my world had been cooked down to its essential elements. Home. Family. Food. And being pressed more firmly against the present moment, with some sense that the future as we knew it had evaporated... These songs asked for gentleness and tenderness, because I think that's what I needed. And in contrast to much of my previous work, I felt these songs asked me for a single, solitary vocal. No panned and doubled harmonies to fill the space, but letting the space be its own voice. These songs and the process of drawing them out were a gift of consolation to me, and I hope they are to you.
